A photo recently posted to Imgur and Reddit has gone viral, prompting many people to wonder if the claim made by the original poster is true.

In the photo, the original poster claims if you yell “Andy’s coming!” while meeting Woody and Jessie, the characters will “stop what they’re doing and drop.” The photo sparked a debate on reddit and reddit.com/r/disney.

The photo has been viewed over 400,000 times.

A video posted to YouTube features an interview with a Cast Member who says they have ended the “Andy’s coming!” element of the meet and greet.

“It used to be that way. They did actually used to fall to the ground, but they did change the rules and they’re not allowed to fall to the ground anymore,” the Cast Member said. “They will actually stop sometimes, but the rule has changed.” Note: The video is posted at the bottom of this post (jump to :50 in the video).

If this is the new policy, it will be interesting to see if Disney discusses this viral photo with Cast Members that work alongside the characters. Will Cast Members need to discourage guests who try to yell that Andy is coming?

Some posters insist you can still do this at the parks, but we’ve been unable to find proof that the “Andy’s coming!” line will actually still work.

It will be interesting to see how Disney (and Woody) handle this viral phenomenon.

Disney Mobile Games’ newest game for iOS and Android, Toy Story: Smash It!, is now available in the App Store and Google Play for 99 cents.

The 3D physics puzzler game is based on the Toy Story franchise. Players can control Buzz Lightyear as he throws balls to knock aliens off of blocks. The ultimate goal? To foil Emperor Zurg’s plans, obviously:

“Toy Story: Smash it!” is an all-new, 3D physics-based puzzle game featuring your favorite “Toy Story” characters! Embark on new adventures with the Toys through hilarious encounters in outer space, alien chases in the Wild West, and more! With 60 levels of nonstop puzzle play, this game will provide hours of explosive and thrilling fun!

This is the first major release by Disney Mobile since December, a successful month for the company.

REVIEW:

If the game sounds similar to Angry Birds and Little Big Planet, it is. However, the game is quite fun and the graphics are impressive.

In the game, players blast bricks, bounce balls and use all of Andy’s familiar toys while working through four episodes that contain 60 levels. The physics in the game is the most entertaining part of the challenges. Different materials used as projectiles have different effects during gameplay.

As the game progresses, players unlock unlock new projectiles and powerups to interact with other characters from the Toy Story franchise.

After playing around with the game, I definitely think it’s worth 99 cents. I’m still waiting for Disney to launch a series of mobile apps that guests will download and play while waiting in line for an attraction. This game certainly seems like a step in that direction.

According to a report from WDWMAGIC, Disney has improved in-room WiFi service at all resort hotels. Here’s a snippet from the article.

“Apparently some issues with dropped connections had been identified and the system update addresses that with the hope of delivering better internet performance to the rooms.”

So, obviously this is good news. However, while we’re on the topic: I was underwhelmed by the WiFi service at the Magic Kingdom while at WDW back in January.

While I saw decent up/down numbers (averaging 2-3 Mpbs down), the inconsistency and dropped connections bugged me during our trip.

The biggest frustration was in Fantasyland and New Fantasyland. I eventually had to turn off my WiFi signal because I was noticing the signal dropping so frequently. Also, I had to “opt in” to Disney’s terms and conditions 4-5 times in a single day. Not cool.

While I admit I didn’t mess around with my settings a lot, it certainly was not as user friendly as I hoped. Maybe the recent improvements to in-room WiFi can soon be expanded to the parks.

TL;DR = Improved in-room WiFi? Win, fail or meh? Win. Magic Kingdom WiFi? Win, fail or meh? Meh. (RIP Betamouse)

Anyone else have a similar experience? Or was it just me?

The new Twitter account and Facebook page serve as “the official in-park Facebook page with live updates from the park and answers to your questions.”

In the past, we’ve written about the success of @DCAToday. It’s good to see Disney expanding this to Disneyland. The expansion does leave room for speculation that Disney could add this social media effort to Walt Disney World.

We can only hope!

Disney has been using Tumblr since early November to promote a new dragon that will fly over New Fantasyland sometime in the next couple months.

Back on November 14, the Disney Parks Blot introduced the new campaign by linking to the Tumblr blog. The grainy videos and photos teased what many Disney fans anticipated for the past few months.

The dragon, which is now confirmed to be coming to New Fantasyland, is the same dragon spotted flying over California back in June. Then, the dragon was rumored to be part of Avatarland. However, the dragon once airborne will be flying over parts of the Magic Kingdom.

Disney has done a great job promoting this, even posting to the blog multiple times a day.

This is not the only recent Tumblr blog launched by Disney and the Disney Parks Blog team. The Looking Glass is a new blog that features “amateur” Disney photographers.

As described by Disney: “Disney Parks as seen through the eyes of selected photographers from around the world.”

This is one of the best ideas I’ve seen from Disney in a while. There are so many talented Disney photographers that spend their time taking beautiful photos at the Disney parks around the globe. Why not feature these photos? I’m glad Disney found a way to give these photographers credit for their work and a way for Disney fans to discover these talented individuals.

While I’m not on Tumblr, Disney obviously sees potential in this growing platform. It will be interesting to see what other ways Disney uses Tumblr over the coming months.

On @New_Fantasyland’s profile page, the account is listed as “The official Twitter feed for the Walt Disney World Resort.” This is inaccurate.

The account is not producing unique content, but rather sharing Disney Parks Blog articles and photos taken inside the parks.

As we approach the official opening of New Fantasyland, I would keep an eye on @DisneyParks.

Bottom line: nothing to see here. As you were.
